Boldog Karácsonyt! (Lesz-e Santafakk 2?

Egyébként beléd is. Még mindig KDE3-mal jön? Bár végül is, ha működik... To you too. Thanks for the update. It's nice to see, that there are new OS-es, directly for POWER. In the meantime Yocto has released 3.2.1 on the 15th of december and AROS has released a new nightly build, just yesterday. Riscy also released a new version today. (Maybe a quickfix?) T2 SDE has released 20.12 since (on dec. 14), but i've only found a Sparc64 ISO. As for the EOL of CentOS 6; did CentOS 6 ever had a POWER version? I know RHEL 6 has, but CentOS 6 does not even have an entry in the list. I've only found RHEL 6 stuff for POWER. Neked is. |

Hello TCH, every time I think we have all OSes new ones pop up :-) It seems the ISOs are created daily from Riscy. LOL, I just read the announcement of CentOS 6 and thought this would be available for PPC ;-) Ah and you can remove the "beta" from Void. The maintainers said it was not a beta. They are almost on par with the original. And the ISO of CruxPPC is not alpha anymore. The November release was a beta and the December releases no longer are labeled as beta. So it must be something between beta and final? Or is it final? I don't know. How's the job search going? |

Hello Carlos,Well, the more the merrier. It's good to have more to choose from. Indeed it does, the timestamp was 04:40 yesterday too. I pointed the download to the dir instead of the ISO and i will always update the date of the last update, whenever i update the list. If i won't forget. :P Could be, but i've never encountered it. Done. Well, they say, this is the last release of 3.5, so i think it is final. Next is CruxPPC 3.6. A local company approached me on linkedin several weeks ago, that they are looking for embedded C/C++ developers for a big company named Thyssenkrupp. It could be mostly done from home, but sometimes i would be summoned at their local HQ. I asked how frequently i must go in, because if it's not too frequent (1-2 times per 1-2 months), then i can manage it, otherwise i cannot, because i am possibly suffering from CFS and i am a bit limited with distance travelling. They asked some questions about my state, but never replied again. They might have changed their minds, or it is because they were already on holiday. They have to assemble a team of five until the end of January, so it's not concluded yet. But also, they could not yet answer what the task will be or what kind of environment i will have to use. Because if it requires high-math or i have to work on windows, then it's out of my expertise. |

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you in any case. Unfortunately, I have had similar experiences with applications. As soon as you mention any handicaps, you are usually out. In such cases, I would only mention that I can't travel that often at the moment because I have to take care of my mother, for example. I myself am in favor of honesty. But in such cases, unfortunately, it is not rewarded ... I have not found any references for CentOS6 on ppc64le. There are still some distributions that are updated almost daily. On occasion I'll look for them. From Gentoo there will be an image for ppc64le soon. And did you see the images Kubic and MicroOS for ppc64le at Tumbleweed? These are new. Do you know what they are? I have never heard of it. https://download.opensuse.org/ports/ppc/tumbleweed/iso/ |

Thanks for cheering for me. Perhaps you're right and i should make up something for such occasions. Did that approach got you better results? Me neither. It seems to be that only RHEL6 had any. Thanks. No, i've completely missed them out, i had just updated the old links, thanks for pointing out, i have updated the entry with them. I have no idea though, what they could be, and i have no means of try them out, due to the lack of ppc64le hardware. (A Blackbird, a Blackbird, my - nonexistant - kingdom for a Blackbird...or a Talos II.) |

Well, I have to backtrack a little bit. In the application, you have a cover letter and a CV. At the beginning I wrote about my handicap in the cover letter. But this turned out to be a mistake, because I got almost no invitations. Later, I mentioned my handicap in the CV under the heading Military service -> exempt due to my handicap. In the end, I wrote the same in the cover letter as in the CV. The difference is, if something like that is in the cover letter, it carries more weight. You make the handicap bigger than it is. In the CV it is only a "side note". I have to or should mention my Handycap, because it is not overlookable ;-) I would only mention a possible handicap like CFS (if at all) at the on-site interview. It is also of utmost importance to clarify what the handicap means. I have always emphasized that it does not limit me in any way in my work. I would like to send you my application documents. Maybe they will be an inspiration for you. I would write your lack of experience in Windows development in the application, because that is a clear thing. But I'm not sure about your lack of high-math experience. I would discuss that better on the spot. Because the people reading the application usually don't have a clue about that kind of stuff. If it goes stupid he thinks, oh he can't do math and you're out. Next time I could enter my mail in the email field. You then could C&P the address and then delete it from the email field and send me a mail? Here is MicroOS and Kubic mentioned https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:MicroOS https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Kubic Last time I tried RiscySlack. A lot of I already tried. But a few are still on my list. As soon as I win the jackpot in the lottery you get a system for free for sure. But it's really hard to make it. I read about someone who gave away a Blackbird. Unfortunately, he didn't package it well. So a lot of SMD parts fell off ... |
