Today oscomp.hu is fifteen years old. Though it has not been resurrected since it's fifth birthday, but it also did not really died: it is still updated sometimes. And as then, today i also hold the birthday of the two machines which had bound to me best during the past thirty years...as they are thirty years old now.

Of the brasilian NES clone SuperCom 72 i don't even remotely know the exact date, only the year. By the way, this console was the one which replaced the - since returned - Atari VCS clone VCC sometime on the autumn of 1991.



On the picture, our entire game library is visible. There is 500 game in the machine (which is roughly only 12, but with hacks), we have an 82 in 1 cartridge, the World Cup wherewith we had barely played and what we had replaced to the Quantum. (This is not our original cartridge, we just bought it again.)
The machine and the gamepad is "modded": the power supply and the reset has been brought out via two RCA-s and the gamepad has two switches wherewith the machine can be reseted or powered down, so we don't have to get out from the chair if we want to switch the game.

Of the Amiga500+ i know at least the week when it was manufactured, which is the 42th. Which is actually this week this year, but in 1991 it was during october 14 to 20, so it's only almost at the same time as the site.
Update: I've mistaken about the manufacturing week, that was the date of the case, the machines' is the 43th which in 1991 was during october 21 to 27, so it is possible (1:7) that it came off of the line on the 22th.
The current config: 3.1 and 1.3 KickStarts, piggybacked 2 MB Chip RAM, ACA-500, with a 50 MHz Blizzard 1230 IV, with 68882 and 64 MB RAM, and also with a 512 and a 256 MB CF card.



Originally it had a Harms Computertechnik Professional 030 Plus 500 with a 680EC30 running on 14 MHz (i still have it but i don't know where), then with a full 68030, 4 MB ZIP RAM and a 68882 running on (maybe) 20 MHz...



...and a Roctec RocHard 500, inside with 4 MB SIMM RAM and a 40 MB HDD of unknown manufacturer. The RAM has been upgraded to 8 MB later and the HDD has been replaced to a 240 MB Western Digital (more precisely for awhile both HDD was inside by the names ROCHARD0 and DIGITAL0), this served for roughly 20 years, but i still have it, i just switched this too to a larger one...i don't know the size or the manufacturer (perhaps 2 GB Maxtor or Samsung; update: there was that too, but now it is a 4 GB KingFast SSD) and i will not disassemble it or plug it into the machine. :P



The turbocard was replaced at the end of 2011 with a Daniel Instruments Stormbringer H530 card, with 8 MB ZIP RAM and a 68030/68882 running on 50 MHz.



Originally i have no idea which KickStart the machine had (i guess 2.04), then a two-chipped 2.05 and a 1.3 was put in, with a Cornelius KickStart switcher (i still have it, but i don't know where, so i cannot make a photo, but when i put the Stormbringer in, i've made a picture of it, that is under the link above), then i bought a 3.1 KickStart, which is however one-chipped, so i replaced the Cornelius to the AmigaKit switcher, which however switched by long reset, whihc resulted in even a more rough GURU has switched between the KickStarts and my teeth were falling out, thus finally i've crafted a self-made one. (Warning: only for those with strong nerves!)

Then unfortunately both the Stormbringer and the Harms stopped working, the latter did so, when it was lying in the cupboard; then the ACA500 was obtained and an 1200 card Blizzard was plugged into. Since then this is the setup. (At now i don't know if the cards died or something between the cards and the machine went wrong; they should be put into another A500, but there is no another one. Replacing the capacitors did not helped.)

Well, i think, that's it. Let the next 15 and 30 years come.

However i would like to make a remark, that if Cloanto would write a simple warn into our guestbook, about deleting them, i would done it without a word; our disclaimer contains that, that we have no info about what upload can damage whatever rights of anyone - that's it, the abandonware is a grey zone, the legal status of a certain content is ambiguous; so, we need to be warned if such legal damage happens.
But instead this, they tried to scare T-hosting (who hosts the page for gratis) with legal threats, because someone must feed the employed lawyers; i'm sure that a horrible amount of economial damage occurs, if a 30 years old computer's software can be downloaded for free, or at least enough to use a fiscal, armed to the teeth.

On 2014.12.31. at 19:57:24 the 500 000th downloader arrived from the Netherlands and took an Amiga Workbench 3.1 diskpack.
It only took 2992 day to reach this amount of downloads. You can figure out from this, that the page will be 3000 days old in two days. Which means the site will be older than one and a half decade, until it'll get the 1 000 000th download... :P

Some days ago on amigaspirit.hu, it was complained, that the Amiga stuffs on oscomp have viruses. (More accurately they highlighted the WB disks.)

I've checked it, it was true, there were some infected stuff, fortunately it was only the "HappyNewYear'96" virus wich is based on the descriptions (any my experience) does not do anything but multiplying, like the public debt. But the WB disks were clean.
And i've found one "Saddam" virus on one of the disk, but it was rendered harmless, because it was renamed (and from KickStart 1.3 it is disfunctional anyway), independently of this, i've got rid from it.

I've checked my machine too, a lot of programs were infected and it seems to they were infected since decades (see later).

Then i got down the Amiga stuffs from oscomp and started Virus Z.
The result:



It can be seen in the first row the renamed - and rendered harmless by this - Saddam virus in the Wingsfur.adf file, and the rest are those ones wich were infected on oscomp by the HNY96. (The number on the beginning of the directory is the oscomp ID.)
The errors are unconcerned, some files inside the ADF-s had checksum errors, but they were data files, without any exception. Of course the Virus Z could not open Simon.hdf, but after it i mounted it manually and it was clean.

All of the HNY96 infected stuffs were on my machine, more accurately they got infected there and they got uploaded onto oscomp this way. Every other Amiga stuff - wich came from Amiga CD-s, torrent or webpages - were clean, including the WorkBench disks.
Furthermore, the most of the infected stuff were on my machine recently, except for two games: Tech and UFO wich resided on it since the middle of nineties.
So it can be guessed, how and when the HNY96 got into my machine.

The main suspect is the UFO, since i got that on the christmas of 1995, i've still got the diskbox, even if it is in a battle-weary status. :P



The other suspect is Tech, because it is a native resident on my machine too and because not the game itself was infected, but the hungarian "intro".
The "Show" program can be seen on the first picture, is a pure IFF displayer wich was called by the startup-sequence of Tech, to display this picture:



This is not part of the game, the hungarian distributor put this into it at that time.

Of course there can be a third option, that means, the virus arrived from a third place and these two programs are just victims, and then when i upgraded to 3.1 and reinstalled the system, they came back from the backup - still infected. :P

I think that's it.
Thanks for the involved ones, and of course i apologize; this was very delicious, even if the virus proved to be harmless and only infected a few programs. I learned from this, from now i'll check every would-be-uploaded Amiga program with Virus Z. (By the way, Virus Z with all the required stuff, can be downloaded from here: http://oscomp.hu/index.php?details/Virus_Z_III_Amiga_1427)

But since the WB disks on oscomp were clean, the infected ones could not be downloaded from here, it must came from elsewhere. And i think if their Amiga behaves weird, that cannot be the HNY96, since according to the story, the virus got into my system one and a half decade ago and i did not noticed - if they did not warn me, maybe i would never noticed, it did not do anything.

It must be another virus, from another place, not from here.

The site is five years old.

Five and a half year ago, when bgafc became two years old, kemi and i have got an idea, to create a website, wich is not about what we hate (winshit), but about what we like.

To convert the idea into practice, we got help from saxus (who wrote the portal for us), Mutant leG (who gave us a ton of retrostuff and constantly helps us out in identifying the unnamed games, queried by the visitors) and from Yare and Tux, the T-Hosting team (who gave home for bgafc and this site too).

In the last five years we uploaded nearly 1400 downloadable stuff; mostly games, but there's musics, docs, utils and even operating systems among them.
The site lived the most at 2008 march, we had more than 15000 unique visitors that time. Unfortunately we do not have that much time, and this effect the updates and the visits too. Currently we has roughly the quarter
of visits than that time.
Perhaps the site will revive a bit from now. Perhaps. :P

But it's not the site is the only thing wich has it's birthday today, two machines has it too. :)
Unfortunately i do not know the exact manufacturing date, but i know the year, so i hold the birthday today of my Amiga 500+ and my Super Com 72.


The "celebrated"


Both machine arrived into the family in 1991. The 500+ was my father's machine first, but on the xmas of '92 i got it.
In the last 20 years, i was glued together with these two machine. There were times, when they did not work because of some minor, fixable damage (as a kid i could not repair these), but they were with me all along, i had a ton of nice moments with them. And a ton of bad, when they owned me in stupid games. :P



Super Com 72, 500 in 1 (wich is ~10 games and hacks of these) and 82 in 1 cartridge.
(There are a bunch of stupid infos on the net wich states this is a SNES clone, but in reality this is a NES clone.)



Amiga 500+ with 2 MB Chip RAM and a 3.1/1.3 KickStart switch; Harms 030 Professional Plus turbocard with a 68030 CPU, 68882 FPU and 4 MB Fast RAM; RocTec RocHard IDE controller with 4 MB FastRAM and a 240 MB sized Western Digital HD.
